US Firm Reveals Fresh Video Evidence in Alleged Tinubu Drug Case

A United States-based political advisory and lobbying firm, Von Batten-Montague-York, has announced plans to submit a video transcript as fresh evidence in the ongoing legal battle over records linked to allegations surrounding President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s past in the United States.

The firm said the material could undermine Tinubu’s reliance on privacy protections in his effort to prevent the release of certain records held by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

Von Batten-Montague-York disclosed this in a post on its verified X account on Monday.

The company said it was amending its Supplemental Notice of Evidentiary Exhibits before a US court to include the transcript of the video, which it described as “really extraordinary.”

According to the firm, the video was recorded at an All Progressives Congress, APC, political event where Adewale Tinubu, described by the organisation as President Tinubu’s reported nephew, allegedly spoke about the old Chicago case involving the Nigerian president.

The firm said Adewale Tinubu claimed during the event that he personally handled the case and pushed for a settlement.

“We are amending our Supplemental Notice of Evidentiary Exhibits to the US court to include the attached video transcript. The video is really extraordinary.

“At an All Progressives Congress, APC, political event, Mr Adewale Tinubu, President Tinubu’s reported nephew, said, ‘I did that case in Chicago. It was one of my first legal matters,’ and described personally urging Tinubu to settle.

“Yet the official court record identifies Patrick S. Coffey, Esq. as the attorney representing President Tinubu in that case. No court appearance, pleading, signature, or other filing identifies Mr Adewale Tinubu as counsel in the proceeding. Not a single record.

“Why does this matter? First, court records show that Mr Adewale Tinubu’s account is false. Second, the video shows, in real time, the falsification of established facts to deceive the Nigerian public. Facts President Tinubu now claims are private. Third, President Tinubu is asking the court to protect his alleged heroin-trafficking records from the public. Yet his own nephew publicly discussed the Chicago proceeding at a political campaign event while Tinubu was present.

“President Tinubu cannot have it both ways. US courts have long recognized that voluntary public disclosure can diminish the privacy interest that Exemption 7(C) protects. The FBI and DEA must come to the realization that President Tinubu is a liability and that his alleged drug-trafficking records are just another Epstein file.

“Whether under the current Republican administration or a future Democrat administration, those files will eventually be released to the public,” the firm tweeted.

The Presidency has also maintained that the FOIA dispute should not be interpreted as proof of criminal liability.

In a recent clarification, the Presidency said the case concerns access to government records and the application of exemptions under US law.

It noted that some of the records could be protected by provisions covering grand jury proceedings, attorney-client privilege, law enforcement information and personal privacy.

The lobbying firm is now arguing that public comments allegedly made by Adewale Tinubu about the Chicago proceeding weaken the privacy argument being advanced over the government records.

It wants the court to consider the video transcript as evidence that details about the case were already discussed publicly.

The company has repeatedly argued that records connected to the investigation should be made available to the public.

In August, the firm welcomed developments in the FOIA litigation after a US court ordered further action on the requested records.

It argued that the matter had remained unresolved for too long and called for the documents to be released.

The firm also took the allegations to Capitol Hill earlier this month.

Politics Nigeria reported on September 2 that Von Batten-Montague-York had begun engaging members of the US Congress and senior congressional staff over the records.

“Members of Congress and senior congressional staff returned to Washington today, and we wasted no time,” the firm said at the time.

Moreover, TIMESNG earlier reported today that Karl Von Batten reposted on social media his appointment as a commissioner to a White House presidential commission.

Von Batten had initially announced the appointment before deleting the post.

He later said the decision followed communication from the White House after Nigerian government officials allegedly complained about his appointment.

The firm subsequently restored the announcement on its verified X account.

The post read: “We are glad to announce that on August 31, 2026, Dr Von Batten was appointed by President Donald J. Trump to serve as a Commissioner on the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars.

“We will remain grateful to the most consequential American President in our lifetime for choosing to honor Dr Von Batten with that appointment.

“God bless America, and may all who oppose her fail.”

The firm has continued to publicly challenge the Nigerian government over the records relating to Tinubu, while the Presidency has rejected what it regards as politically motivated claims from the organisation.
