“She expects me to greet him every morning” — Lady reveals what shocks her mum whenever she visits

A lady has sparked conversations after revealing how her mother reacts whenever she visits her matrimonial home and observes the way she and her husband run their marriage.

According to the woman, her mother is often surprised because the expectations she has of a wife differ considerably from how her daughter approaches her marital responsibilities.

She explained that her mother expects her to wake up early to prepare food for her husband and greet him every morning, among other traditional expectations.

 Lady shares mother’s expectations

Speaking about her mother’s reaction, the lady said, “Whenever my mom comes to visit me in my husband’s house, she’s always very shocked at the way we do things.”

She added, “She expects me to wake up by 6AM to cook for my husband. She expects me to greet him every morning.”

The woman further revealed that her mother is equally surprised when she asks her husband to run errands or chooses to use professional laundry services instead of personally washing his clothes.

She said, “She’s shocked when I send my husband on errands or when I don’t wash his clothes and instead send them to the dry cleaners.”

Different approaches to marriage emerge

Her account highlights the differences that can exist between generations regarding expectations of wives and how household responsibilities should be handled in marriage.

While her mother’s expectations reflect the marital practices she considers appropriate, the Nigerian lady’s experience shows that she and her husband have developed a different arrangement that works within their home.

The revelation has consequently drawn attention to how couples may approach domestic responsibilities differently from the expectations passed down by older generations.
