We Won’t Come Again – Kano Residents Protest ₦3,000 APC Rally Payment

Some Kano residents who participated in an All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign activity have expressed frustration after allegedly receiving ₦3,000, with some saying the amount was not enough to cover their transport expenses.

The complaint follows a political mobilisation by the APC in Kano, where the party received more than 136,000 new members and unveiled a support structure for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign.

The supporters, who were seen wearing APC-branded shirts, made the complaint in a video circulating on social media, where they questioned the amount allegedly given to them after attending the campaign.

One of the men said some participants had borrowed money to pay their transport fares before coming to the campaign ground, only to receive ₦3,000 afterwards.

“If you people keep giving us ₦3,000 for APC campaign, we won’t come again. Some of us borrowed transport fare to come to the campaign ground, and they are only paying us ₦3,000,” he said.

The men appeared dissatisfied as they discussed the payment, with one of them warning that the amount could discourage them from attending future campaign activities.

The complaint comes as political parties intensify their mobilisation activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with supporters taking part in rallies, campaign events and other grassroots activities.

The APC has continued to strengthen its political structure in Kano ahead of the election, with party leaders calling for increased grassroots mobilisation and support for its candidates.

A similar complaint was recently made by other APC supporters in a separate video after they allegedly received ₦1,500 each for taking part in a full day of campaign activities.

The supporters, who were also wearing APC campaign shirts, complained about the amount after spending hours dancing, walking and participating in the campaign.

One of the men said the ₦1,500 he received was too little considering the effort he had put into the campaign and the expenses he had incurred during the day.

He said the money was especially inadequate for someone with family responsibilities, adding that his wife was pregnant and that another participant who joined him also had a pregnant wife.

“N1,500 for all the hustle and running around since morning. For a family man, we are in trouble. My wife is pregnant. Even my other friend joined with me also has a pregnant wife,” he said.

He questioned whether the ₦1,500 could cover the basic needs of his expected baby.

“Is this what we will use to buy baby items?”

One of them subsequently warned that they would not return for future APC campaign activities if participants continued to receive the same amount.
