A Nigerian pastor has stirred both excitement and controversy online after a video showed him appearing to rise into the air and vanish through the ceiling during a church service, an act his congregation embraced as a miraculous ascension.
In the footage, the clergyman, dressed in white, is seen slowly lifting off the ground as members of his congregation gathered beneath him, hands raised, singing praises and worship songs as he ascended higher and higher until he disappeared from view through the ceiling.
However, a closer look at the video reveals what appears to be a white rope attached to his back, seemingly being pulled from above by someone not visible in the recording.
The presence of the rope has led many observers to question the authenticity of the “miracle,” with several social media users suggesting the entire scene may have been a staged stunt rather than a genuine supernatural occurrence.
Despite the visible rope, the congregation present at the service appeared thoroughly convinced, erupting into jubilant celebration once the pastor could no longer be seen, many of them expressing belief that they had just witnessed him ascend bodily to heaven.
The video has since gone viral, sparking widespread debate online between those who maintain unwavering faith in the miracle and others who have openly criticised what they view as manipulative theatrics designed to deceive worshippers.
