A Nigerian man reportedly cancelled his girlfriend’s flight to Canada shortly before departure after she complained about the economy-class ticket he had booked for her.

The incident was narrated by an X user, @Themrbachelor, who said he had accompanied his friend to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) before the unexpected incident occurred.

According to him, his friend had been dating the woman for five years and had spent three years working multiple jobs and saving money for his relocation to Canada.

‘Economy? How Am I Supposed to Post Us Leaving?’

The X user claimed that the man had purchased two economy-class tickets because he intended to travel to Canada with his girlfriend.

However, he said the woman became unhappy after looking at the tickets and questioned why her partner had booked economy despite the money he had saved.

She reportedly said:

“Economy? After all the money you’ve saved?

How am I supposed to post us leaving in economy? It looks cheap, how can I post that on snap, I don really make mouth o.”

According to @Themrbachelor, the woman’s complaint centred on how the trip would look when shared on social media.

He Cancelled Her Booking

The X user claimed that his friend did not argue with his girlfriend after hearing her complaint.

Instead, he allegedly stepped away, opened the airline’s mobile application and cancelled her flight.

@Themrbachelor said he initially thought his friend was joking and that the woman also did not believe he was serious.

However, she reportedly realised what had happened when a cancellation notification arrived on her phone.

She allegedly asked him:

“What did you do?!”

‘You Deserve Business Class’

According to the account, the man picked up his luggage and explained his decision to his girlfriend.

He reportedly told her:

“You’re right…You deserve business class and I can’t afford it, so I’m going alone…”

The incident has since generated reactions online, with social media users debating the couple’s decision and the lady’s reported dissatisfaction with the economy ticket.
