How Did She Get A1 in Economics and Geography but C6 in Social Studies?” — SHS Girl’s WASSCE Results Spark Online Debate

An SHS candidate’s WASSCE results have sparked widespread debate online after she shared them on TikTok, with many questioning the unusual spread between some of her grades.

The reaction comes just two days after the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) released the provisional 2026 WASSCE results, prompting a wave of celebratory posts from students across the country eager to share their outcomes.

Amid the wave of celebrations, however, one result slip in particular caught the attention of netizens for reasons beyond simple congratulations.

According to the shared results, the candidate obtained an A1, the highest possible grade, in both Economics and Geography, alongside strong grades in subjects such as Integrated Science and Information and Communication Technology.

However, her result in Social Studies stood out as comparatively weaker, a C6, prompting many online to question the inconsistency between her performance across subjects perceived to require similar analytical skills.

The unusual grade spread quickly became a talking point, with some social media users openly alleging that the results may not have been entirely her own effort, using the slang term “apor,” commonly associated with exam malpractice in Ghana.

Others, however, pushed back against the accusations, arguing that it is entirely possible for a student to excel in certain subjects while underperforming in others due to differences in preparation, interest, or exam-day performance.

As WAEC continues to review and finalise the 2026 WASSCE results, such debates are expected to persist online, reflecting the intense scrutiny many students now face when sharing their academic achievements on social media.
