2027: Obi Challenges Nigerians to Expose Any Wrongdoing in His Past

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has challenged Nigerians to scrutinise his personal and public records and expose any wrongdoing they may discover ahead of the 2027 general election.
Obi also extended the challenge to his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, insisting that politicians seeking the country’s highest offices must be prepared to subject their backgrounds to public scrutiny.
The former Anambra State governor spoke on Thursday during a town hall meeting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, tagged “Obi Talks Nigeria.”
Obi said he wanted Nigerians to independently verify details about his background, including his date of birth, education and other personal records.
“If there is anything that you know I have done that is wrong, say it out now,” Obi challenged Nigerians.
He similarly called on anyone with information about Kwankwaso to make it public.
The NDC candidate also referenced his legal dispute with Nollywood actor and former 2023 presidential campaign spokesperson Kenneth Okonkwo, saying he went to court after Okonkwo allegedly claimed to possess information about him that could shock Nigerians.
Obi said the matter should be subjected to the appropriate legal process.
He further argued that the credibility of political leadership should extend beyond the individual occupying an office to the process through which the person emerged.
“You cannot continue to answer His Excellency when the process that got you there is not excellent,” he said.
Obi maintained that candidates seeking public office should be transparent about their past and accountable to the electorate.
