The Delta State Police Command says it has rescued a 60-year-old kidnap victim and arrested ten suspects in separate operations across the state.

The operations in Agbor, Abbi and Oghara also led to the recovery of a locally made firearm and suspected illicit drugs.

According to a statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Delta State Police Command, Edafe Bright, The latest operation took place at Alisime Village in Agbor, where police operatives, working with forest guards and local security personnel, rescued a 60-year-old man who had earlier been kidnapped.

The operatives engaged the suspected kidnappers, forcing them to flee into the bush.

Police say some of the suspects may have sustained gunshot injuries during the encounter.

A mobile phone and ATM card belonging to the victim were recovered, as the police launched a manhunt for the fleeing suspects.

In Abbi, operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit raided a brothel following intelligence on a suspect wanted over an arson case.

Ten persons — seven females and three males — were arrested during the operation.

Police also recovered quantities of Tramadol, Swinol, Canadian Loud and suspected Indian hemp.

The suspects are currently undergoing profiling, with those found culpable expected to face prosecution.

And in Oghara, a report of a scuffle involving about eight persons along Ibori Road led to another police operation.

The suspects fled on sighting the patrol team, but one of them, identified as “Highest”, reportedly abandoned a locally made cut-to-size gun.

The firearm was recovered, while efforts continue to apprehend the fleeing suspects.

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel Erale, commended the operatives and other security personnel involved in the operations.

He directed that the search for the fleeing suspects be intensified, while urging residents to remain vigilant and provide credible information to the police
