Police Launch Campaign Against Political, Digital Thuggery In

The Adamawa State Police Command has launched a campaign against political and digital thuggery as part of activities marking the 2026 International Youth Day.
The campaign, unveiled on Saturday at the Women Development Centre, Jimeta-Yola, is aimed at discouraging young people from engaging in political violence, intimidation, cyberbullying, misinformation, hate speech and other forms of digital abuse.
The event brought together government representatives, traditional rulers, youth leaders, civil society organisations, community groups and other stakeholders committed to promoting peace, responsible citizenship and youth development.
Delivering a goodwill message on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, DCP Sendere stressed the need for stronger police–youth partnerships to tackle political violence, digital abuse and other social vices affecting young people.
Other speakers urged youths to embrace peace, education, responsible citizenship, positive leadership and constructive use of digital platforms.
Declaring the programme open, the Commissioner of Police, Hassan, formally launched the campaign and called on youths to reject attempts by politicians or other individuals to use them as instruments of violence.
He also urged young people to avoid using social media to perpetrate cyberbullying, intimidation, misinformation, hate speech and other activities capable of undermining public peace and security.

Hassan said the future of Adamawa State and Nigeria largely depend on the choices young people make, urging them to channel their energy, creativity and influence towards productive, lawful and peaceful activities.
Delivering a presentation titled: “My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery,”, the Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, highlighted the dangers associated with political and digital thuggery.
Village Head of Shagari, Ashraf Usman Marafa, also delivered a presentation titled: “Reclaiming Our Tomorrow,” focusing on youth responsibility, positive values and collective action towards building peaceful and prosperous communities.
The state police command reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening police–youth partnerships and creating platforms for meaningful engagement on issues affecting the safety, development and future of young people.
It urged youths across Adamawa State to embrace the campaign’s message: “My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery,” and become ambassadors of peace, responsible citizenship, good governance and positive digital engagement.
