Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered N800,000 taken from them by terrorists during an operation in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, August 24, 2026.

Danja said the troops of Sector 2, while conducting a fighting patrol on August 22, responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted six occupants along the Dandume-Sheme Road.

He said the troops advanced to the area and engaged the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their captives and flee into the surrounding bushes.

“Following exploitation of the area, all 6 kidnapped victims were rescued unharmed,” Danja said.

He added that troops recovered N800,000 allegedly taken from the victims by the terrorists.

“The money and vehicle were subsequently handed over to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume,” he said.

In a separate operation on August 21, troops of Sector 2 encountered terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.

According to Danja, the troops engaged the terrorists and forced them to flee into the surrounding bushes before pursuing the fleeing elements.

“Troops pursued the fleeing elements before exploiting the area, during which one motorcycle was recovered,” he said.

The Joint Task Force said it would continue to sustain aggressive patrols and offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of action and protecting lives and property across the North-West.

“The Theatre appreciates the continued support of members of the public and urges communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces in support of ongoing operations,” Danja said.
