JUST IN: Bello, They Should Ask Him What Was He Trying To Achieve Burning Cap With Symbol Of President _ Jibrin

According to APC member and House of Representatives member Abdulmumin Jibrin, the burning of a cap bearing the symbols of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Kano State Governor, along with the APC broom symbol, was provocative.

Jibrin made the remarks during an interview with Channels Television on Friday, August 21, 2026, while responding to the controversy surrounding the destruction of political symbols in Kano.

The lawmaker questioned the motive behind the actions of an individual identified as Bello, who was reportedly seen burning the items associated with the President, the Kano State Governor and the All Progressives Congress.

Jibrin said the person involved should explain the reason for destroying the political items and what he intended to achieve through the action.

“I think the person you need to ask is that man who is called Bello. Everybody knows him, everybody knows where he lives. They should ask him what was he trying to achieve by burning the cap with the symbol of the president and the governor and then secondly burning the broom which is symbol of APC. It’s provocative,” Jibrin said.

The comments came after videos showing the burning of political symbols from rival political camps in Kano circulated on social media, generating reactions from members and supporters of different political parties.

Jibrin argued that the incident was particularly sensitive because the items allegedly destroyed were associated with prominent political figures and the ruling APC. He suggested that the act could reasonably be interpreted as an intentional attempt to provoke supporters of the President, the state governor and the party.

The controversy comes at a time when political activities are increasing across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections. Political supporters in Kano and other parts of the country have increasingly been involved in activities aimed at promoting their preferred candidates and parties.

Jibrin’s comments also underline the growing tensions surrounding political symbols as different groups seek to demonstrate loyalty to their respective movements. The APC lawmaker maintained that the circumstances surrounding the burning of the items should be properly examined and that the person responsible should explain his motive.
