A Nigerian lady has advised women to prioritise love when choosing a life partner, stressing that genuine affection becomes more important as couples grow older.

In a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, she reflected on her parents’ marriage while sharing how her father has been caring for her mother, who has been sick for the past week.

According to her, watching her father care for her despite having issues with his legs reminded her of advice a friend gave her in 2021.

“See, marry for love. Marry for love. Don’t go and deceive yourself and go and marry for money. Anyway, if you marry them for money, make sure that all throughout your life you both fall in love with each other,” she said.

She explained that her father’s dedication to her mother made her appreciate the importance of having a loving partner, especially as couples grow older.

The lady also recalled what her friend told her about finding a man who would treat her with genuine love and care.

“My mom has been sick for the past one week. And my dad is someone that has issues with his legs. If you see the way my dad has been treating my mom for the past one week.

It is now that I remember what my friend told me 2021. She said, ‘Steph, if you don’t meet a man like your dad, I don’t think you will marry.’” she added.

She further emphasised that the true value of marriage becomes clearer in old age, when couples rely on each other for love, companionship and support.

Her advice has prompted discussions about love, money and choosing a life partner. She urged women to marry for love and nurture that love throughout their marriage.
