The President of the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters (SNB), Prof. Umar Pate, has urged broadcasters in Adamawa State to embrace digital journalism and move away from analogue practices to remain relevant in the rapidly changing media industry.

Prof. Pate made the call at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Yola, the Adamawa State capital.

He warned that broadcasters who fail to upgrade their skills and adopt digital technologies risk losing relevance as the industry continues to be transformed by streaming platforms, social media and data-driven storytelling.

The SNB president called on media professionals to collectively reposition the broadcasting industry by investing in training, digital tools and economic empowerment.

According to him, the future of broadcasting depends on professionals who are able to combine intellectual capacity, public trust and a digital mindset.

Prof. Pate also urged members of the profession to participate actively in the SNB national conference scheduled to hold in September 2026 in Bauchi.

He said the conference would provide an opportunity for broadcasters to network, build their professional capacity and gain exposure to global best practices in digital broadcasting.
