EPL: They’ll even win Champions League this season’ – Gary Neville names one player Arsenal should sign

Manchester United icon, Gary Neville has said that Arsenal could emerge as formidable contenders for the Champions League title this season if they manage to sign Julian Alvarez from Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal commenced their new Premier League season with an impressive victory on Friday night, as goals from Kai Havertz, Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard secured a 3-0 triumph over Coventry City at the Emirates Stadium.

New summer signing, Christos Tzolis delivered a remarkable performance on the left side of Arsenal’s attack. However, Mikel Arteta is eager to further strengthen his offensive options before the summer transfer window closes.

Alvarez ranks among Arteta’s primary attacking targets, but Atletico Madrid has firmly maintained that the Argentine will not be transferred this summer.

Neville said Arsenal are already well-positioned to defend their Premier League title but believes that the inclusion of Alvarez could significantly boost the Gunners’ Champions League aspirations this season.

“What a squad he [Arteta] has assembled here, and if he brings in another forward, I don’t see how anyone can stop them,” Neville said on Sky Sports.

“We believe that Alvarez may prefer a move to Barcelona, but if Arsenal could somehow secure his services, it would undoubtedly elevate their prospects, as they would then possess a world-class striker to complement their already exceptional defenders and midfielders.

“And they become not just Premier League title winners; you then think they can go the extra step and win the Champions League as well.

“The next ten days are crucial. He [Arteta] requires that extra bit of magic in the attack, which can secure victories even when the team is not performing at its best. Does he have sufficient resources for that? I am uncertain,” he added.
