APC Reps candidate pledges development for Ekiti constituents

The All Progressives Congress House of Representatives candidate for Ekiti North II Federal Constituency, Ibrahim Olarewaju, has restated his commitment to human capital development and advancement of his constituents and Ekiti people.

Olarewaju, a former Senior Special Adviser to the President on National Assembly Matters, pledged that he would “continue to execute programmes, policies and projects that would enhance youth development and bridge the gap between his people’s educational needs and strategic investments.”

The former House of Representatives member spoke on Monday during the inauguration of a state-of-the-art 350-seater Computer-Based Test, Science and Technology Centre at his alma mater, Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic Secondary School, Otun-Ekiti.

The occasion also witnessed the foundation stone laying of a comprehensive Science and Technology Laboratory block donated to the school by Olarewaju and his siblings in memory of their late parents, Alhaji Mohammed Olarewaju Uthman and Alhaja Fausat Aduke Olarewaju.

The CBT centre project was conceived by the school alumni as a dual-purpose vehicle to provide hands-on digital training for students and generate sustainable revenue for the institution.

Olarewaju, who is the National Organising Secretary of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, recognising the immense capital outlay required for the project, had, in conjunction with the school alumni, successfully brokered a strategic collaboration with a group of private investors.

Under the arrangement, the investors built and equipped the facility and will recoup their investment over time before it will fully transferring ownership to the school.

The reps candidate, who said the CBT centre was of immense benefit to youth advancement and community development, pledged to “continue to demonstrate commitment to equipping younger ones in this federal constituency with the digital and scientific tools required to excel in a competitive global economy.

“With state-of-the-art facilities, Ansar-Ud-Deen Islamic Secondary School, Otun-Ekiti, is poised as a regional beacon of academic excellence, technological innovation and sustainable community development. The newly commissioned two-storey CBT Centre is an architectural and technological marvel designed to serve both the school and the wider Ekiti community. It was built to eliminate logistical hurdles for students sitting for external examinations.

“The facility boasts of impressive specifications, including 350 test stations allowing candidates to sit for examinations simultaneously, an integrated wireless internet network and dedicated infrastructure engineered to deliver up to 99.9 per cent connectivity uptime, high-definition CCTV cameras for comprehensive monitoring and an eco-friendly renewable-energy system for uninterrupted power”.

The reps candidate, who said that the donation of the science and technology laboratory block to the school by his family had profound personal and historical significance, saying, “The initiative was inspired by a family memory – my mother had originally wanted me to study Medicine, but my father insisted I attend this very school, which unfortunately lacked science laboratories at the time”.

Olarewaju said that the block, whose foundation stone was laid by the National President of the Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Prince Mosediq Kazeem, SAN, was scheduled for completion before the end of the year.

He said, “The new laboratory block will feature modern learning spaces for Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Agriculture, and vocational studies, alongside dedicated administrative offices and supporting facilities.

“These practical training grounds are designed to ensure that no student faces the infrastructural roadblocks of the past, empowering them to pursue and achieve their highest academic aspirations,” he said.

Stakeholders at the event hailed Olarewaju for his relentless dedication to human capital development and community advancement.
