Troops of the Joint Task Force North-West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have overrun a Lakurawa terrorist enclave in Waria Forest, Tangaza Local Government Area of Sokoto State, neutralised several terrorists and recovered weapons and five motorcycles during a clearance operation conducted on October 15, 2026.
In a statement, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force (North-West), Operation FANSAN YAMMA, said that during the firefight, troops overpowered the terrorists with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon their positions and flee deeper into the forest.
“Troops subsequently pursued the fleeing terrorists, neutralising some of them in the process. Further exploitation of the area led to the destruction of the terrorists’ camps and all life-support structures, as well as the recovery of weapons and five motorcycles,” the statement said.
The statement said the Theatre Command commended the troops for their courage, resilience and sustained operational efforts. It also urged members of the public to continue supporting ongoing operations by providing timely and credible information about suspicious movements and activities within their communities.
