Don’t attempt to scrap Amotekun, others – Makinde warns successor

Makinde gave this warning on Thursday during the commissioning the newly constructed office complex for Oyo State Rule of Law Enforcement Authority, OYRLEA.
DAILY POST reports that Makinde is expected to finish his second term tenure in May next year.
He listed the agencies as OYRLEA, Amotekun, Oyo State Agribusiness Development Agency, Oyo State Project Performance Monitoring Agency, Oyo State Mobilisation Agency for Socioeconomic Development and Oyo State Anti-Corruption Agency.
He explained that the agencies were established in order to ensure orderliness in the state, noting that any attempt by his successor to dismantle them may have negative implications on the affairs of the state.
He added that any government that is interested in the future of the state will not make any attempt to scrap the agencies.
“At the heart of good governance is the rule of law. When people know their rights and security agencies enforce the law without bias, you have order, investors come in, and the economy improves. That is what we have experienced in Oyo State,” he said.
