Osun poll: Adeleke leads Oyebamiji by 64,148 votes after 14 LGAs

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State is leading his All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Bola Oyebamiji, by 64,148 votes based on results from 14 of the state’s 30 local government areas declared so far.
Figures collated from the local government collation centres of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Adeleke, the Accord Party candidate, has secured 268,957 votes, while Oyebamiji has polled 204,809 votes.
Adeleke has so far won nine of the 14 local government areas, while the APC candidate has secured victories in five.
The governor recorded some of his strongest performances in Ede North, where he polled 35,427 votes against Oyebamiji’s 10,283, and Osogbo, where he secured 36,480 votes to defeat the APC candidate, who scored 30,474 votes.
In Ede South, Adeleke garnered 26,188 votes against 6,219 for the APC, while he also won Iwo with 27,085 votes against Oyebamiji’s 19,660 votes.
The APC, however, recorded victories in several local government areas, including Irepodun, where it polled 15,713 votes against Adeleke’s 14,502.
Oyebamiji also won Obokun with 16,120 votes against Adeleke’s 12,023.
The APC further secured victories in Ola-Oluwa, Atakunmosa East and Ife South.
However, the results declared so far cover only 14 of Osun State’s 30 local government areas.
The overall winner cannot, therefore, be determined yet, as collation of results from the remaining local government areas is ongoing.
INEC is expected to continue the collation before making the official declaration of the winner.
