Our X account has been hacked

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that its official X account has been compromised.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Samaila Uba, director of defence information, said the incident was being treated as a cybersecurity matter.
Uba said the DHQ had activated “appropriate technical measures” to secure the account and prevent further unauthorised access.
He added that efforts were ongoing to fully restore control of the account.
“Consequently, members of the public are advised to disregard any suspicious, unauthorised or misleading content that may be posted from the account during this period,” the statement reads.
The DHQ said it remained committed to maintaining information security and ensuring that the public receives accurate and credible information on the activities and operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.
The military authorities urged members of the public to remain vigilant, adding that further updates would be provided as necessary.
The DHQ also directed the public to rely on its official Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp channels for verified information while efforts to restore its X account continue.
