YENAGOA — Fifteen political parties in Bayelsa State have reportedly signed up for the Rainbow Coalition, a growing political platform associated with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development signals a fresh realignment in the state’s political landscape, with leaders of the participating parties agreeing to work together under the coalition ahead of the 2027 elections.

As part of the coalition’s leadership structure in Bayelsa, the State Chairmen of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have emerged as the Steering Committee Chairman, Secretary and Spokesperson, respectively.

In another major development, PDP State Chairman, George Turnah, has been adopted as the Bayelsa State Leader of the Rainbow Coalition, placing him at the centre of the coalition’s political activities in the state.

The move is expected to further strengthen the coalition’s coordination and provide a unified platform for the participating political parties as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.

Meanwhile, the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has formally admitted George Turnah into its forum in his capacity as the Bayelsa State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The latest developments are expected to generate significant political discussions across Bayelsa, particularly as political parties and stakeholders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 elections.

The composition of the coalition and its emerging leadership structure could also have implications for future political alliances, candidate selection and electoral strategies in the state.

More details on the coalition’s resolutions, membership and political agenda are expected to emerge soon.
