Osun Decides: Governor Adeleke’s Running Mate Predicts Victory, Raises Alarm Over Late Arrival Of INEC Officials

The deputy governorship candidate of the Accord Party in Osun State, Kola Adewusi, has expressed confidence that the party will emerge victorious in Saturday’s governorship election.

Adewusi stated this after casting his vote in Ile-Ife, where he also raised concerns over the uneven arrival of officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) at some polling units across the state.

According to him, while INEC officials arrived early at some polling stations, others experienced delays, a development he said could affect the smooth commencement of voting.

“INEC officials arrived early in some areas, while in other polling units, their arrival was delayed,” Adewusi said, stressing that timely deployment of election personnel was essential to ensuring a seamless voting process.

The Accord deputy governorship candidate, however, expressed satisfaction with the security arrangements for the election, noting that adequate security personnel had been deployed across the state.

He said the presence of security personnel would help maintain peace and order as voters exercised their franchise.

Despite the reported delays in the arrival of some election officials, Adewusi remained optimistic about the party’s chances at the poll.

He said Accord has worked hard to mobilise support across the state and expressed confidence that voters would freely make their choices.

Adewusi further urged residents to remain peaceful and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the voting and collation processes.

He said the party expects the final result to reflect the genuine wishes of the electorate, adding that he remains hopeful that Accord would emerge victorious at the end of the exercise.

The Osun governorship election is being conducted across the state’s 30 local government areas, with voters deciding who will lead the state for the next four years.

The election has attracted significant attention, with the conduct of the poll, voter turnout, security arrangements and the efficiency of INEC’s deployment expected to shape the outcome.

For Adewusi and the Accord Party, the immediate focus remains on ensuring that the voting and collation processes are conducted peacefully and that the votes cast by residents are accurately recorded and counted.
