EIRS Executive Chairman, John Odior presenting a copy of the Nigerian Tax Law to Brigadier General A.O. Balogun Brigade Commander, 4 Mechanised Brigade during a courtesy visit to the Command.
The Edo State Internal Revenue Service (EIRS) is seeking to collaborate with the 4 Brigade of the Nigerian Army to enhance revenue generation and promote tax compliance across the state.
The initiative aims to build a stronger partnership between the EIRS and the military, particularly in security and information sharing.
A closed-door meeting held between EIRS Executive Chairman, Mr. John Odior (FCA, ACTI), Brigade Commander, Brigadier General A.O. Balogun, senior EIRS management, and military officers focused on strategic cooperation and tax compliance.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Mr. Odior explained that the visit was meant to strengthen institutional ties and explore lawful avenues for collaboration.
”We are here to seek areas of collaboration, reiterate our mandate, and demonstrate how we can work together to boost state revenue,” Odior said. “The military’s primary duty is providing security. Without a secure environment, businesses cannot thrive, making tax administration extremely difficult.”
The partnership is expected to drive higher tax compliance and boost revenue collection across Edo State.
