Delta State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, has urged Nigerians to support the economic reforms and policies of President Bola Tinubu, saying the Federal Government’s measures are aimed at strengthening the Nigerian economy and improving living conditions.

Onyeme made the call while speaking at a medical outreach organised by the Special Assistant to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Non-Indigenes, Sir Anthony Chukwu, for residents of Ward 10 in Oshimili South Local Government Area.

The outreach was organised to mark Chukwu’s birthday.

The Deputy Governor congratulated Chukwu and commended him for supporting the state government’s M.O.R.E. Agenda through the medical outreach and distribution of 250 medicated eyeglasses to residents.

Onyeme Backs Tinubu’s Economic Policies

Onyeme said President Tinubu remained committed to transforming Nigeria’s economy and urged citizens to support the administration’s reforms.

He said, “In today’s Nigeria, we do not have a better option of who should be our President other than President Bola Tinubu.”

The Deputy Governor said his support for Tinubu was based on his assessment of the President’s performance and not simply because he belonged to the APC.

“I am proud to be a member of the APC, very proud, because when you see who knows how to work, the best thing to do is to support the person and our President knows his job,” he said.

Onyeme cited improved fuel availability as one of the changes he attributed to the Tinubu administration.

He recalled that Nigerians previously spent long periods queuing for petrol, saying the situation had changed significantly under the current administration.

“A few years ago, every one or two months, you saw people carrying fuel cans in their cars and queuing for fuel, but today, what happened? You hardly see any queues due to the magic of somebody, and that person is President Tinubu,” he said.

The Delta Deputy Governor also linked increased federal allocations to the state to what he described as the impact of Tinubu’s economic policies.

“Governor Oborevwori is also doing very well because there is money. Our allocation from Abuja has increased, and who made that possible? President Tinubu,” he said.

He described Tinubu as “a champion of reforms” working to make Nigeria more functional.

Onyeme Commends Anthony Chukwu

Onyeme also congratulated Chukwu on his birthday and praised him for marking the occasion by providing healthcare services to members of his community.

“Sir Chukwu, we wish you many more years in good health, more promotions will come your way. The party and the government will always recognise your efforts,” he said.

Speaking earlier, Chukwu said the medical outreach was designed to provide healthcare services to residents who might otherwise have difficulty accessing medical attention.

He said he had used previous birthday celebrations to support communities through the construction and commissioning of boreholes, empowerment programmes and distribution of food items, including rice.

Residents Receive Free Medical Care

The leader of the medical team and Permanent Secretary of the Delta State Ministry of Technical Education, Dr Anthony Okwunze, said residents underwent tests and received treatment for various health conditions.

According to him, the medical team conducted checks for malaria, hypertension and blood sugar levels, alongside other general medical assessments.

He said the team also distributed 250 medicated eyeglasses to residents and provided free drugs and treatment to several beneficiaries.

Residents who delivered goodwill messages described Chukwu as a grassroots politician who maintained close contact with members of his community.
