‘Give us second chance’ – Expelled varsity student begs after viral dance video

A 500-level nursing student expelled by Madonna University in Rivers State for taking part in a TikTok challenge has begged the school to give her a second chance.

The student, who is among those sanctioned for dancing inside the teaching hospital, said she does not know how to explain the expulsion to her mother after years of study.

She made the appeal in a video now trending online.

“How do I explain this to my mother? I’m one of the dozen students that were expelled. After all these years, how do I explain this to my mother? Give us a second chance,” she pleaded.

The video was part of the “Gen Z nurses” trend that showed students dancing in the waiting area, staircase and inside a bus. The clip was captioned, “No fall sick o, na Gen Z full hospital now” and was posted in August.

The university said the video was recorded inside its teaching hospital and took disciplinary action against the students.

While some Nigerians supported the school’s action, saying nursing students should know professional ethics and should not film entertainment content in a hospital, others asked for leniency.

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has also called for clemency.
