2027: Umahi Predicts Landslide Victory for Tinubu, Nwifuru in Ebonyi

Works Minister Says APC Targets 95% of Polling Units as Campaign Mobilisation Intensifies
Minister of Works and former Ebonyi State Governor, Senator David Umahi, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor Francis Nwifuru will secure convincing victories in the 2027 general elections.
Umahi made the prediction on Sunday in Abakaliki during a South-East sensitisation campaign covering Ebonyi North and Ebonyi Central senatorial zones.
The minister, who also serves as Deputy Director-General for Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the Tinubu/All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council, declared that Ebonyi State remained firmly behind the APC.
He said the party was preparing for an intensive grassroots campaign, including direct engagement with residents in their communities, to communicate its achievements and programmes.
Umahi also expressed confidence that wealthy individuals, youths, women and elders in Ebonyi would contribute resources towards the party’s campaign activities.
“We are not looking for an 80 per cent win; we are looking to win 95 per cent of our polling units,” he said, expressing optimism about the party’s electoral prospects.
The former governor dismissed claims that opposition parties could defeat the APC in Ebonyi, insisting that the party would mobilise strategically and work towards retaining power at both federal and state levels.
Umahi also highlighted ongoing federal road and bridge projects, arguing that infrastructure development under the Tinubu administration would strengthen the APC’s appeal to voters in the South-East.
He referenced projects linking Ebonyi to neighbouring states and the proposed completion of the Oferekpe Road and its bridge, which he said would improve transportation and connectivity across the region.
The minister urged residents to support the APC, maintaining that the state had benefited from the Federal Government’s infrastructure initiatives.
Meanwhile, traditional ruler Sunday Oketa also expressed confidence that Ebonyi would support APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The election remains ahead, and Umahi’s projection represents the position of the APC leader as political parties begin preparations for the polls.
