2027: Kwankwaso Rules Out NDC Withdrawal for ADC or Any Party

NDC Vice-Presidential Candidate Dismisses Merger Rumours, Says Party Remains in Presidential Race
Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has dismissed reports that the party intends to withdraw from the 2027 presidential election in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) or any other political party.
Kwankwaso made the clarification on Sunday in a statement published on his verified Facebook page, where he accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council of directing unnecessary attacks at the NDC leadership.
He said the ADC campaign team had shifted attention away from issue-based politics by allegedly accusing him, the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and the party of working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Describing reports of a possible withdrawal as unfounded and misleading, Kwankwaso insisted that the NDC remained committed to contesting the election.
“We will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,” he said.
He warned that similar rumours could emerge closer to election day in an attempt to confuse supporters and weaken the party’s campaign.
Kwankwaso also denied suggestions that the NDC presidential ticket was working for the APC, insisting that the party had no intention of stepping aside for the ADC or any other political platform.
The former Kano State governor challenged the ADC campaign team to concentrate on responding to allegations reportedly made against its candidate by Vice-President Kashim Shettima rather than attacking the NDC.
He further argued that neither the APC-led administration nor the ADC had demonstrated that it offered the credible alternative Nigerians needed, expressing confidence in the NDC’s ability to address the country’s challenges.
According to him, the party’s agenda focuses on national unity and improvements in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and the economy.
Kwankwaso maintained that the NDC ticket had the capacity and nationwide support required to tackle Nigeria’s problems and bridge existing divisions.
He urged party supporters and other Nigerians to remain committed to the NDC’s electoral ambition, concluding with the slogan, “Nigeria will be OK.”
