Spanish police have arrested three men following a daylight shooting and police chase in Marbella.
Initial reports described all three suspects as Dutch nationals.
However, updated information identifies two of the arrested men as Dutch and the third as Danish.
The shooting happened at about 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2026.
Several people called the emergency services after hearing gunshots on Ramón Gómez de la Serna Avenue.
The location is on Marbella’s Golden Mile, near a hotel, conference centre and the beach.
A Dutch man was shot in the leg during the incident. Emergency workers treated him at the scene.
Later reports described his injuries as minor.
Witnesses reportedly saw two gunmen running from the area after the shooting.
The suspects escaped in a car, prompting officers from Marbella’s Local Police to begin a chase.
They later abandoned the vehicle and continued running on foot.
Officers caught and arrested the three men after a brief pursuit.
The detainees are reportedly between 25 and 30 years old.
Spanish National Police have taken control of the investigation.
Investigators are reviewing witness statements and security camera footage to determine what caused the shooting.
Authorities are also checking whether another person was involved.
The main line of investigation reportedly points to a possible dispute between groups connected to drug trafficking.
Police have not released the names of the victim or the suspects.
The arrests do not establish guilt. The three men remain suspects while the investigation continues.
The shooting was the second reported gun attack in Marbella within several weeks.
On August 24, a 33-year-old man died after being shot twice in the abdomen near La Bajadilla marina.
Police have not confirmed a connection between the two incidents.
