The Kwara State Signage and Advertisement Agency has removed two billboards belonging to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate, Sulaiman Kawu, in Ilorin, the state capital.

The billboards, located at Adabata Junction and Agaka, were dismantled as part of an ongoing enforcement exercise targeting illegally erected outdoor advertisements across the city.

The exercise was led by the agency’s General Manager, Toba Adeyeye, who said the affected billboards violated existing signage regulations.

Adeyeye explained that one of the billboards had been erected on a road, while the other was mounted on a government facility without the required approval.

He dismissed suggestions that the exercise was politically motivated, stressing that the agency’s action was based solely on compliance with signage and advertisement regulations.

According to him, the agency would continue to remove billboards erected in unauthorised locations, irrespective of their owners or political affiliations.

He urged individuals, organisations and political parties to obtain the necessary approvals and comply with the state’s regulations before erecting billboards.
