“Lo and behold, the message I got was that I do not have active data bundle” — MTN customer alleges 20GB disappeared within hours

An MTN Nigeria customer has expressed frustration after alleging that a newly purchased 20GB data bundle disappeared within hours despite barely using his mobile data.

The customer, identified as KAA, claimed he had earlier gone to bed with more than 10GB of data on his MTN line, only to wake up the following morning to discover that the bundle had been exhausted.

He subsequently purchased another 20GB and said he only used his Facebook application to publish a post before leaving for work.

Customer discovers 20GB data allegedly exhausted

According to KAA, his phone automatically connected to his office’s Starlink Wi-Fi after he arrived at work around 9 am.

He only suspected something was wrong after leaving the office for a restaurant, where his banking applications and WhatsApp reportedly stopped connecting to the internet.

After initially assuming it was a network problem, he later checked his data balance when his iTunes also failed to work.

KAA said, “Lo and behold, the message I got was that I do not have active data bundle.”

He added, “I’m angry oh, very angry. But my anger is not just for the fraudulent exhaustion of data by MTN but the sluggishness of our judicial system in this country.”

Customer vows to pursue telecom court case

KAA further indicated that his grievance extends beyond the latest incident, claiming that he has plans to pursue legal action involving telecommunications companies.

Expressing his determination to see the matter through regardless of how long it takes, he stated, “But whether it takes 10 years or 20. I will follow it to the very end.”
