Jigawa Hisbah operatives begin training to boost capacity

The Jigawa State Hisbah Board has commenced a week-long general training exercise for its security guards drawn from the 27 Local Government Areas, as participants arrived on Saturday at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Fanisau, Dutse, for drills and orientation.

Confirming the development in a telephone interview with a PUNCH correspondent on Sunday night in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, the Public Relations Officer of the Jigawa State Hisbah Board, Dauda Hadejia, said the general training of over 2,600 operatives of the board, involving both men and women, was organised to enhance their capacity, professionalism and knowledge of Shari’a-compliant enforcement procedures for effective service delivery across the state.

“The Board flagged off a comprehensive general training for all our security personnel to enhance their capacity, discipline and service delivery across the state,” Hadejia stated.

He said participants for the exercise arrived from all the 27 Local Government Areas, as well as the state headquarters, to take part in the week-long programme at the NYSC camp.

“We have guards from every single LGA in Jigawa, plus our headquarters staff. They are all gathered here at Fanisau Camp for this important capacity-building exercise,” the PRO said.

According to him, instructors for the training immediately screened the participants upon arrival before proceeding with registration.

“On arrival, our instructors conducted proper screening of all participants. This is to ensure that only qualified and fit personnel take part in the training,” Hadejia explained.

He added that the registration process was organised systematically to ensure order and accountability.

“The registration was conducted based on Local Government Areas at the main hall of the orientation camp. This makes it easy for coordination and record-keeping,” he noted.

Accordingly, the PRO said each participant was issued official materials for the duration of the training.

“All participants were presented with registration identification tags and other required training kits. This will help in proper identification throughout the week,” he said.

The PRO stated further that the training was aimed at repositioning the Hisbah security guards for better performance in line with the board’s mandate.

“This training is part of efforts to equip our guards with the necessary skills, discipline and knowledge to carry out their duties effectively and in line with Islamic and state laws,” he said.

He added that the board expected improved conduct and professionalism from the guards after the exercise.

“At the end of this week-long training, we expect to see a more disciplined, alert and community-friendly Hisbah security outfit across all 27 LGAs,” Hadejia said.

On the venue for the training, Hadejia highlighted that the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Fanisau, was chosen as the venue to instil camp discipline and teamwork among the personnel.

“The camp environment will help build team spirit, endurance and professionalism among our guards. It mirrors the kind of dedication we expect from them,” the PRO added.

Furthermore, the Jigawa Hisbah spokesperson called on the public to support the Hisbah Board in its efforts to promote morality and security in Jigawa.

“We urge the good people of Jigawa State to continue to cooperate with Hisbah. Together we can build a more peaceful and morally upright society,” he stated.
