“What is wrong with marrying a repentant olosho?” — Lady shares painful experience

A Nigerian lady has ignited widespread conversations on social media after defending the idea of marrying a repentant sex worker while recounting her own experience with marriage and the importance of investigating a partner’s family background.
The woman shared her views in a post that has since gone viral, arguing that people should not automatically judge individuals based on their past, as some may have entered prostitution due to difficult life circumstances.
She said, “What is wrong with marrying a repentant prøst!tute—someone who may have gone into it because of certain circumstances?”
Lady advises women to investigate family history
The woman went on to argue that background checks before marriage should not be one-sided. According to her, while many men try to find out whether mental illness runs in a woman’s family, women should also make similar enquiries about the families of the men they intend to marry.
She stated, “Most men investigate whether m@dness runs in a woman’s family before marriage. As women take men’s pictures to NSPPD, they should also visit the man’s village to find out if m@dness runs in his family too because they take hard dr√gs.”
Reflecting on her personal experience, she added, “They did that to me, but I didn’t check his family because I was in love.”
Social media users share mixed opinions
Her comments have generated mixed reactions online, with many users debating whether a person’s past should determine their suitability for marriage. Others focused on her advice about carrying out background checks on both partners before making lifelong commitments.
The discussion continues to gain traction across social media, with many agreeing that openness, due diligence and compatibility remain important considerations when choosing a life partner.
