The High Court Judge abducted by suspected bandits in Kebbi State, Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza, has regained his freedom after spending one week in captivity.

The judge was released on Monday and has safely reunited with his family, bringing relief to the judiciary, residents of Kebbi State, and well-wishers who had prayed for his safe return.

A family member who confirmed the development to Tvc news reporter says Justice Bunza arrived home hale and hearty.

According to the relative, the family is overwhelmed with joy and gratitude to God over his safe return.

The family also expressed appreciation to the Kebbi State Judiciary, security agencies, and the people of Kebbi State for their prayers, support, and solidarity throughout the difficult period.

The family, however, said details surrounding the judge’s release would be disclosed at a later time.

Justice Faruku Hassan Bunza was abducted in the early hours of Sunday, July 26, 2026, shortly after returning from Sokoto to his residence in Bunza Local Government Area. His abduction sparked widespread concern across Kebbi State and renewed calls for stronger security measures to protect judicial officers and other citizens.
