The Nigeria Police Force has launched a fundraising drive to support ASP Oyadele John, a Mobile Police Officer attached to MOPOL 22, Ikeja, Lagos, who is currently receiving treatment at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH, after suffering injuries in an on-duty accident.
According to a police wireless message dated August 20, 2026, Oyadele was involved in an accident on July 5 while on special duty in Osun State.
Following medical examinations, doctors reportedly discovered a serious neurological condition, with blood found in his brain, which later resulted in a partial stroke.
The police disclosed that the officer requires ₦8 million for urgent, life-saving treatment and appealed to personnel across various Mobile Police formations to contribute voluntarily toward his medical expenses.
The directive, issued from the office of the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of the Mobile Police Force, described the appeal as a ‘Personnel Welfare,’ requiring urgent attention.
Commanding officers were instructed to personally coordinate the fundraising effort and ensure donations are remitted through the designated channel.
