The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has approached the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to seek the discontinuation of the case against Maryam Isah Sheu, a student of Bayero University Kano (BUK).
NANS leadership said it was concerned about the potential impact of the ongoing case on Sheu’s academic progress, particularly with her examinations approaching.
In a statement shared on Friday, NANS said it was engaging the EFCC and other relevant authorities “responsibly and constructively” in an effort to secure a favourable resolution.
“The leadership of NANS has reached out to the leadership of the EFCC to seek a resolution that will lead to the discontinuation of the case against Maryam Isah Sheu, a student of Bayero University Kano,” the statement said.
The students’ body said the development was being handled through dialogue, stressing the need to protect the student’s academic future.
NANS said it would provide further updates as developments unfold.
