Ten Nigerian women from business, politics, entrepreneurship and public service are set to be honoured at the 2026 Women in Business and Politics Summit in Abuja on Friday.

The event, scheduled for August 21 at A Class Events, Abuja, will recognise the women for their contributions to leadership, enterprise, public service and Nigeria’s social and economic development.

The honourees are Nancy Iloh; Chioma Rosemary Onyekaba; Funmi Ajila-Ladipo; Dr Aisha Sulaiman Achimugu; Halima Shuibu Kurfi; Hajia Hasfat Balewa; Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan; Ms Ima Kurfi; Ms Hilda Ashton Titiloye; and Mrs Chinenye Laura Kester Agwu.

The organisers said the recognition is part of the summit’s broader objective of highlighting women whose work and leadership have had an impact across different areas of Nigerian society.

According to the organisers, the specific awards and citations for each of the 10 recipients will be announced during the ceremony.

The recognition segment is expected to be one of the key features of the summit, which will bring together women and men from the business community, politics, public service and other professional fields.

Beyond the awards, the organisers said discussions at the event would focus on leadership, entrepreneurship, public service, women’s empowerment and the participation of women in Nigeria’s political and economic development.

The summit is also expected to provide opportunities for participants to network, exchange ideas and discuss issues affecting women in business and public life.

The organisers said the event was designed to go beyond celebrating individual achievements by providing a platform for conversations around the growing role of women in Nigeria’s economy and governance.

They said the stories and experiences of the honourees would help inspire other women to pursue leadership opportunities and contribute to national development.

The gathering is expected to attract business executives, political leaders, entrepreneurs, professionals and other invited guests.

With the event scheduled to take place on Friday, the organisers said preparations were at an advanced stage for what is expected to be an evening combining recognition, networking and discussions on the future of women’s participation in Nigeria’s public and economic life.
