Police investigate alleged attack on comedian in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the reported attack on a Benin-based comedian, identified as Porkupyne Osagie Idedia, by suspected hoodlums.
DAILY POST reports that the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Eno Ikoedem, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Benin City on Saturday, October 24, 2026.
Ikoedem said the victim, popularly known as MC Porkupyne, was attacked by hoodlums while returning from a party in Benin City.
She said the Commissioner of Police in the state, Patrick Daaor, had ordered an immediate and thorough investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.
According to her, the investigation would also identify those involved and ensure that anyone found culpable was brought to justice.
The statement added that the commissioner strongly condemned all forms of violence, assault and unlawful attacks.
“The commissioner urged residents to embrace peace, mutual respect and lawful conduct. Acts of violence against persons or property will not be tolerated in the state.
“He also assured members of the public that the incident would be treated with the seriousness it deserves and that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure justice is served in accordance with the law.
“He reiterated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining law and order across the state,” she added.
Ikoedem encouraged anyone with useful information that could assist the ongoing investigation to contact the police, while urging members of the public to remain calm and allow the police to conduct a comprehensive investigation.
