Man allegedly attacks wife with machete in Ekiti, claims phone hit was accidental

A middle-aged man, identified as Francis Adewunmi, has allegedly attacked his wife with a machete, leaving her with a head injury in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, before reportedly fleeing the scene.
The victim, while narrating her experience, said her husband, who resides in Lagos State, had travelled to Ado-Ekiti before the incident occurred.
According to her, the disagreement that preceded the alleged attack began when Adewunmi accused her of infidelity, an allegation she vehemently denied.
The woman further alleged that her husband had been threatening her life for the past 17 years, expressing fear over what she described as a prolonged pattern of threats that had now culminated in the latest incident.
She called for justice, urging the appropriate authorities to investigate the matter and take necessary action over the alleged attack and threats to her life.
However, when contacted, Adewunmi gave a different account of the incident, claiming that he accidentally hit his wife with a mobile phone during an argument.
The conflicting accounts have raised questions about the circumstances surrounding the woman’s head injury, as she seeks justice over the alleged assault.
