Kefas condemns Taraba killings, vows justice for victims

Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has condemned the reported killing of residents in Binnari community, Karim-Lamido local government council of the state, and called on security agencies to urgently apprehend those responsible.
The governor’s reaction followed an attack by armed men in the early hours of Friday, which reportedly left several residents dead and heightened fears among members of the community.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Digital Communications, Emmanuel Bello, Kefas described the killings as unfortunate and urged security agencies to take immediate steps to restore calm and protect lives and property.
He stressed that no effort should be spared in identifying and arresting the perpetrators, regardless of their status or position, adding that all those involved must be held accountable under the law.
Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to tackling insecurity and restoring lasting peace in Karim-Lamido and other affected communities across the state.
He also highlighted ongoing efforts to facilitate the safe return of displaced persons to their communities and rebuild confidence among residents affected by previous crises.
As part of the peace-building efforts, the governor recently approved N1 billion for the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management to address the aftermath of previous crises and support initiatives aimed at restoring peace in Karim-Lamido.
He urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security agencies as they work to restore normalcy and ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
