UPDATED: LG chair says 12 killed by terrorists in Adamawa

The Chairman of Gombi Local Government Area, Mr Markus Ishaya, has said that 12 people were killed in the early hours of Monday in Nzangula village, Guyaku Ward, in the council area of Adamawa State.
Recall that PUNCH Online reported that eleven people were reportedly killed on Monday in Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
Speaking exclusively to PUNCH Online in a telephone interview on Monday, Ishaya said the bloody attack occurred in Guyaku Ward.
Giving details of the attack, the chairman said the report from Nzangula village indicated that 12 people were killed, while two others were injured and receiving treatment at the Cottage Hospital in Gombi.
He added that a woman was abducted, while the EYN Church, three houses, and two shops were vandalised.
“Report from Nzangula village of Guyaku Ward, Gombi LGA, stated that 12 people were killed, two were injured and are presently at Cottage Hospital, Gombi.
“One lady was abducted. EYN Church was burned. Three houses were also burned, and two shops were vandalised,” he said.
Barely two weeks after terrorists killed over 10 people in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, another 11 people were reportedly killed on Monday in Zaranga village in Gombi Local Government Area.
A resident of the village, who spoke to PUNCH Online on the phone but did not want his name in print because he was not authorised to speak to journalists, said Boko Haram invaded the village in the early hours of Monday, shooting and burning houses.
“For now, 11 dead bodies have been recovered. Hundreds are still missing. Search teams and security personnel are in the forest searching for the missing people,” he said.
Another resident said his wife and two other family members were among the dead bodies recovered.
“My wife and two of my family members were also killed during the early morning invasion of my village,” he said.
When PUNCH Online called the Adamawa State Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, several times, there was no response.
As of the time of filing this report, calls put through to his phone had yet to be answered.
