“She reported them to the landlord”

A Nigerian travel consultant has shared a story about a Nigerian family in the United Kingdom (UK) who allegedly lost their accommodation after helping another Nigerian lady who recently moved to the country to study.

The travel consultant, identified as @boye4christ2006 on X, formerly Twitter, narrated the incident while questioning the difficulties Nigerians may face when trying to help one another abroad.

‘They Accommodated Her’

According to the travel consultant, the Nigerian lady arrived in the UK to study about three months ago and was accommodated by the family.

“This Nigerian family helped a Nigerian lady who came to the UK to study just three months ago,” he wrote.

He claimed that the family charged her £300 in monthly rent, which was reportedly cheaper than the £500 to £600 being charged for accommodation around her school.

“They accommodated her and were collecting £300 for rent. It was cheap because renting around the school area was between £500 and £600,” he stated.

‘She Proposed They Reduce Her Rent to £200’

The travel consultant claimed that after the woman started school, she made friends who allegedly influenced her negatively.

“When the lady got to school and met some friends who later taught her bad stuffs, she later discovered that the people who accommodated her were also renting the property,” he wrote.

He claimed that the woman subsequently asked the family to reduce her rent from £300 to £200, threatening to report them to the landlord if they refused.

“She then proposed that they reduce her rent to £200, or else she would report them to the landlord,” he stated.

‘She Reported Them to the Landlord’

The family reportedly rejected the proposal, after which the woman allegedly reported them to the landlord.

“They disagreed, and eventually, she reported them to the landlord,” the consultant wrote.

He claimed that the landlord visited the property the same day and informed the tenants that they had breached their tenancy agreement and would have to leave.

“The landlord came to the property that same day and told the tenants to vacate the apartment because they had breached their tenancy agreement,” he stated.

‘Now, Both of Them Are Looking for House’

@boye4christ2006 further reveals that the family members and the student were subsequently left searching for new accommodation.

“Now, both of them are looking for house.”

“Is it a crime to help Nigerians in the UK?” he asked.

He added: “It’s difficult to help Nigerians in the UK.”
