FRSC inducts 200 special marshals in Abia

200 new special marshals have been inducted into the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, with a charge on them to exhibit discipline, patriotism, and exceptional service.
Speaking during the induction at the FRSC Sector Headquarters in Umuahia on Tuesday, the state Sector Commander, Ngozi Ezeoma, congratulated the inductees and described their decision to join the Corps Special Marshals as “a demonstration of commitment to safer roads and the preservation of human lives”.
The state sector commander charged the new inductees to uphold integrity, professionalism, and respect for all road users, stressing that their conduct must consistently reflect the values and objectives of the corps.
She further urged them to work closely with regular marshals and actively support the corps’ enforcement, public education, and road safety initiatives towards achieving a significant reduction in road traffic crashes in the state.
Responding, the State Coordinator, Special Marshals RS 9.3, Abia Sector Command, Ven. Kingsley Wachi described the Special Marshals as the legally empowered volunteer arm of the FRSC, noting that their roles extend beyond the reach of road safety administration into communities and various sections of society.
Presenting the keynote address titled “Discipline, Patriotism and Volunteerism: The Hallmarks of an Effective Special Marshal”, the Commissioner for Transport, Chimezie Ukaegbu, described the Special Marshal uniform as “a symbol of responsibility, stressing that while integrity earns respect, discipline makes authority worthy.
