“You should have married your phone” – Woman laments as husband ignores her for social media reels

A Nigerian woman has humorously lamented over her husband’s habit of spending more time on his phone than giving her attention, joking that he should have married the device instead.

In a video shared on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed her frustration while confronting her husband for ignoring her despite returning home from work.

According to her, the man left for work in the morning without calling her, forcing her to be the one to reach out to him. She said she expected him to spend some time with her after returning home, but he remained glued to his phone.

“Most times, you prefer to hold your phone than to hold me. Later, you will start saying women are too harsh,” she said.

She explained that she had even asked him to bring his leg so she could massage it, hoping that he would eventually move to the bed and spend time with her.

However, instead of taking the opportunity to get closer to her, he remained seated while using her to watch reels, switching between different phones.

She noted that even the phone she had left unattended was picked up by him to continue watching the same type of videos.

“Even my phone that I abandoned there, you still took it to watch the same reels. You should have paid the dowry of a phone instead and get married to it,” she added.

Her complaint has amused social media users, with many relating to the experience of partners competing with their spouses for attention because of excessive phone use.

The woman’s humorous complaint has also sparked conversations about the importance of giving partners attention and spending quality time together in relationships.
