In a fresh effort to improve learning conditions in public schools, the Edo State Government has distributed school bags, books, shoes and other educational materials to pupils across the state’s 18 Local Government Areas.

The intervention, implemented through the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), is aimed at improving access to learning materials and raising the standard of basic education in the state.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, SUBEB Chairman, Hon. Ayewoh Ambrose Oyakhilome, commended the state government for what he described as its commitment to transforming public education.

Hon. Oyakhilome said SUBEB would sustain efforts to improve teaching and learning, assuring that the board remained focused on raising the standard of public primary schools across Edo.

But the intervention went beyond classroom materials, as the government also distributed motorbikes to monitoring officers to strengthen supervision of public schools.

The motorcycles are expected to improve the mobility of monitoring personnel and enable them to reach schools more effectively, particularly those in hard-to-access areas.

The Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yekini Idaiye Oisayemoje, represented by his Deputy, Hon. Osamwonyi Evbaguehita Atu, also commended the initiative.

Hon. Atu reaffirmed the Assembly’s support for government policies aimed at improving the welfare of pupils and creating better learning conditions across the state.
