Nigeria’s Falconets have advanced to the Round of 16 at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup after recording a resounding 10-1 victory over New Caledonia in their final Group F match.

The emphatic win is the Falconets’ biggest-ever victory at the U-20 Women’s World Cup and secured Nigeria second place in Group F with four points.

Ramotalahi Kareem opened the scoring from the penalty spot in the 17th minute before Rebecca Adegbemile doubled Nigeria’s advantage two minutes later.

Janet Seimeyeha Akekoromowei made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute, while Kareem added her second four minutes later to give the Falconets a commanding 4-0 lead before half-time.

Winner Onajite David extended Nigeria’s advantage in the 60th minute, with Kareem completing her hat-trick four minutes later.

Tosin Rafiu added a seventh goal in the 70th minute before Adegbemile scored her second of the match in the 74th minute.

David struck again a minute later to make it 9-0, completing her hat-trick in the process.

New Caledonia pulled one goal back through Joceline Kourevi in the 89th minute, but David restored Nigeria’s nine-goal advantage with her third goal in the fourth minute of added time.

Kareem finished the match with a hat-trick, while David also scored three goals. Adegbemile contributed a brace.

The result leaves Spain top of Group F with nine points and a +15 goal difference, while Nigeria finished second with four points and a +7 goal difference.

China PR also ended on four points but finished third with a +3 goal difference, while New Caledonia ended the group stage without a point and with a -25 goal difference.

The Falconets finish the group stage with one win, one draw and one defeat, scoring 10 goals and conceding three.

Nigeria are now the only African team remaining at the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup and will continue their campaign in the knockout stages.
