Movement mobilises Nigerians for International Praise Day

Nigerians at home and abroad have been invited to participate in International Praise Day, an event aimed at promoting national unity, hope and civic solidarity on Saturday, September 26, 2026.

The organisers, International Praise Day movement, announced the initiative in a statement made available on Sunday and signed by Rev. Bola Arowolo.

According to the organisers, participants will hold a three-hour programme of thanksgiving and reflection under the theme, “We have prayed. Now let us praise.”

The event is expected to take place across participating time zones, with Nigerians encouraged to organise activities in their respective cities and host countries.

In the statement, the movement said, “From 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM in every participating time zone, individuals, families, communities, organisations and groups are encouraged to gather in their villages, towns, cities and countries of residence for songs, music, cultural expressions, reflection, thanksgiving, prayers and other peaceful activities that promote national unity and hope.

“The event will draw attention to the nation’s urgent challenges, including: Corruption, Kidnappings, Killings, Rape and Violence, Insecurity, Economic Hardship, Poverty, Division and Injustice.”

The organisers said the activities would also include songs, music and cultural performances, prayers, poetry and community service projects.

Arowolo said the event was intended to promote peace, economic recovery and responsible leadership.

“Our streets that have witnessed fear should also hear the sound of hope. Our communities that have experienced sorrow should experience solidarity and joy. Our nation that has cried for intervention should also lift a new sound of thanksgiving, courage, and determination,” Arowolo stated.

The organisers said the movement was nonpartisan and open to “demographic groups, including faith-based institutions, traditional institutions, civil society organisations, youth groups, and professional bodies, regardless of religious, ethnic, or political affiliations.”

They said participation was expected from Nigerians in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, continental Europe, Australia, the Middle East and across Africa.

According to Arowolo, the vision is to create a continuous global engagement for Nigeria as different time zones participate in the event.

The organisers urged local organisers to conduct the gatherings peacefully and in accordance with local laws and safety guidelines, with emphasis on unity and civic participation rather than political confrontation.
