“You’re a woman….It’s easier for people to blame you” — Man admits hiding infertility from wife for 10 years

A woman who spent 10 years trying to conceive has reportedly discovered that her husband had known about his infertility before they got married but kept the information from her.
According to the man who narrated the story, the couple faced pressure from the husband’s family throughout their marriage, with relatives blaming the woman for their inability to have children and urging the man to take a second wife.
Despite the pressure, her husband reportedly remained by her side, while she continued hoping they would eventually have a child.
Determined to appreciate his support, the woman decided to use her savings to pursue in-vitro fertilisation (IVF). She reportedly sold an inherited piece of land and raised about ₦6 million for the treatment.
IVF tests uncover painful secret
However, before the treatment could begin, the fertility doctor asked both partners to undergo medical tests, including semen analysis.
The results reportedly showed that the husband had azoospermia, a condition in which there are no sperm cells in the semen. Further investigations allegedly revealed that he had a long-standing medical condition that had affected his fertility.
The woman then discovered that her husband had already been diagnosed years before their marriage.
According to the narrator, the man admitted that he deliberately kept the diagnosis secret because he feared revealing it could affect his chances of getting married.
He reportedly told his wife, “If I had told you, would you have married me?”
He further explained, “You’re a woman….It’s easier for people to blame you.”
Husband’s confession sparks discussion
The revelation has sparked discussion about infertility, honesty in marriage and the pressure placed on women when couples experience difficulty conceiving.
The story also highlights the emotional and financial sacrifices couples can make while pursuing fertility treatment, as well as the importance of both partners undergoing appropriate fertility assessments.
The couple’s latest situation remains unclear based on the account, but the revelation has left many questioning the impact of the husband’s decision to conceal his diagnosis for a decade.
