German Embassy Warns Nigerians Against Visa Agents

The German Embassy in Nigeria has warned Nigerians seeking visas to Germany against relying on individuals claiming to have special access or influence over the visa application process.
The embassy issued the warning in a recent social media post, urging visa applicants to verify information directly with the German mission rather than relying on so-called “visa agents.”
“Beware of misinformation. Save yourself the hassle & just ask us directly,” the embassy said.
The mission further urged Nigerians to share claims they had heard from visa agents in the comments section, saying it would address some of the claims in subsequent posts.
The embassy stressed that it does not work with visa agents.
“We do not work with any visa agents!” it stated.
According to the mission, applicants do not need intermediaries to obtain official information on German visa requirements and application procedures, as the information is freely available through its official channels.
The warning comes amid widespread reliance on third parties by Nigerians seeking to travel to Germany for tourism, education, employment and family reunification.

The mission advised applicants to obtain visa-related information directly from the German Missions in Nigeria and to be wary of misinformation that could lead to financial losses or complications in their applications.
