African Democratic Congress (ADC) chieftain, Dino Melaye, has criticised President Bola Tinubu for appointing himself as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign council.
NEWSNGR recalls that in the presidential campaign council list released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday, Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima are expected to serve as chairman and vice chairman, respectively.
Reacting to the development, Melaye, in a post via his Facebook page, said Tinubu’s decision reflects distrust, stressing that the president is even afraid of his own shadow.
According to the former lawmaker, it was abnormal for a presidential candidate to serve as chairman of his own campaign team, adding that the campaign council is bogus.
He said, “It is a disgrace that President Tinubu doesn’t trust anyone. He doesn’t trust himself. He is afraid of his own shadow; he doesn’t believe in anybody.
“This is the first time in the history of the world that a presidential candidate of a political party will appoint himself as the chairman of his own presidential campaign council.
“Those the gods want to destroy, they first make mad. How can you be a presidential candidate and still be the chairman of the campaign council? If Tinubu likes, he should be the spokesperson of his own campaign.
“It has never happened before now that you have that kind of bogus presidential campaign council. It shows that they are afraid. It shows that Tinubu knows that even the governors and ministers cannot be trusted.
“That is why he wants everything to be reported directly to him. It is disgraceful.”
