Why you should not marry in your 20s — Nigerian rapper Falz reveals

Marriage should not be rushed, according to Nigerian rapper and actor Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, who believes many people are better equipped for the lifelong commitment after reaching their 30s.
The musician said age alone is not the deciding factor, but the maturity and life experience that often come with it.
He argued that many young adults are still discovering themselves during their 20s, making it a period better suited for personal development than settling down.
Marriage should not be driven by pressure
Falz made the remarks during an appearance on The BTS Reality podcast, where he reflected on the expectations many young people face to marry early.
He maintained that individuals should resist pressure from society, relatives, or friends and instead focus on building a stable foundation for their future.
According to him, emotional intelligence, financial independence, and mental readiness are qualities that become stronger with time and should take priority over meeting age-related expectations.
Rather than viewing the 20s as a deadline for marriage, the entertainer described the decade as an opportunity to gain knowledge, pursue ambitions, make mistakes, and develop a clearer understanding of life before making long-term commitments.
According to Falz, “Getting married in your 30s is the best. Don’t let anyone pressure you into getting married before 30. By your 30s, you have gained more life experiences. In your 20s, you are still figuring yourself out.
Your 20s are for learning, growing, and enjoying life. In your 30s, you combine all the knowledge and try to direct your life. So, it is better to wait till your 30s before getting married.”
