Togo Complete Comeback To Beat Nigeria 2-1 To African Beach

Togo’s men’s beach volleyball team staged a remarkable comeback to defeat Nigeria 2-1 at the ongoing African Beach Volleyball Championship in Alexandria, Egypt.
Nigeria dominated the opening set, producing a strong performance to secure a convincing 21-10 victory and take an early lead.
Togo responded emphatically in the second set, turning the momentum in their favour with a 21-8 win to level the contest.
The Togolese team maintained their intensity in the decisive third set, edging Nigeria 15-11 to complete the comeback and seal a 2-1 victory.
The championship will run until August 22 under the patronage of Engineer Ayman Atiya, Governor of Alexandria, with Aida Ismail, a member of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) Board, serving as Chairperson of the Organizing Committee.

CAVB President Bouchra Hajij is also closely monitoring the competition from the venue, overseeing the matches and organizational arrangements.
The championship doubles as a qualifier for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, with the winners of the men’s and women’s competitions earning direct qualification for the Olympics.
A total of 45 teams are competing in the tournament, comprising 24 men’s and 21 women’s teams from 28 African countries.
The event further highlights Egypt’s growing role in hosting major continental sporting competitions and its continued contribution to the development and promotion of beach volleyball across Africa.
